As we gear up to choose a new principal, parents will be invited to contribute opinions and participate in the selection process. Here’s how you can participate:

Fairfax County Public Schools officials are asking for input from the parent community as they screen candidate resumes and develop interview questions for the upcoming principal selection process to replace Principal Arlene Randall, who is retiring next month.

You’re invited to comment on the skills, experiences, and leadership characteristics needed at Cooper.  Your remarks should include challenges and issues that the new principal will need to address. Principal professional skills include planning and assessment, instructional leadership, safety and organizational management, communication and community relations. Principal Selection Process – Information Session

A representative from the office of Administrative Employment will be coming out Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 6:00p.m. with region leadership members to meet with the community and staff to provide additional information regarding the principal selection process.

Principal Selection Process – Selection Panel

Are you interested in being part of the selection panel? We are asked to submit six volunteers to the Region Assistant Superintendent, who will then select three to participate and three alternates for the panel.

The principal selection panel will be held Thursday, February 6th, 2020 (Snow Date:  Wednesday, February, 12th) at the Gatehouse Administrative Center in Falls Church. Anyone who volunteers as a candidate to serve on the panel must confirm availability for the entire day (7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.) The panel may not take the entire day, but in case it does, we want to be sure all are available for the entire process.
