Project Sticker Shock
September 22nd, 2019
11:30am to 1:30pm
Project Sticker Shock is a statewide program designed to prevent adults from illegally providing alcohol to youth in our community. This activity aims to reduce underage drinking by limiting access to alcohol. The goal is to educate adults who might provide alcohol to youth about the law that prohibits furnishing alcohol to minors. Youth will place warning stickers on multi-packs of beer, wine coolers and other alcoholic beverages at participating local stores. The sticker warns that it is illegal to provide alcohol to minors.
The Safe Community Coalition is in need of youth volunteers for this year’s program. Student participants must have parent or guardian permission to participate in this activity. We will meet at 11:15 a.m. on September 22nd, 2019, outside the Giant in McLean where we will go over instructions and distribute materials before heading into Giant and CVS in McLean. We anticipate being finished by 1:30pm (possibly earlier). We are looking forward to a fun and purposeful afternoon.
